@devalot@hostux.social Unlike usual LiPo with a shitton of glue requiring crappy chemicals to unglue/replace if you can order the right, "compatible" replacement battery, making them more complex and expensive, or older removable batteries¹, they're easy to order when the batteries are dead after years of use. They don't just because unavailable after a few years because the manufacturers want to sell a newer laptop each 2 years, with a different batteries (size, factor form, serialization, circuitry…)

@devalot@hostux.social "Modern" laptop "batteries" are actually enshitiffied computers just to make them more expensive and harder to replace (hard to find compatible/replacement batteries) 1. Which actually can be 6 or 9×18650 welded inside proprietary battery case + hardware DRM chipset crap causing compatibilities issues which manufacturers won't address… Reusing the case/chipset and only replacin cells require being able open the plastique case without damaging it and having access to a spot welder @SDF@mastodon.sdf.org
