@ophiocephalic@kolektiva.social and as sleazy a maneuver as this last-minute amendment claiming to introduce "reforms" but actually broadening surveillance powers is, D's have done plenty of sleazy stuff with FISA reauth in the past. One of the reasons they probably thought this manevuer would work was probably that just two years ago (under Biden, with D votes) they passed RISAA which claimed to introduce "reforms" but actually broadened surveillance powers. Hey wait a second, I'm noticing a pattern here!
