Fun tidbit; I don't know if it's the case elsewhere but at least here, to get a pilot's radio license for hot air ballooning, a person has to demonstrate proficiency with phraseology involved in taxiing on an airport, clearances in controlled airspace, etc. Not because they are likely to ever use it.
