I'm growing a bit tired of this format tbh
I think to some extent it's doomed to repeat what Twitter has done no matter how you do it. Sure you can moderate it better, but it's still the same kind of shouting into the void experience, it becomes quite difficult to follow at a certain scale and seems to naturally form bubbles around people.
It's good for going viral (joke's on everyone who claims you can't do that here) and keeping up with what friends are up to, but I did like the more structured forum-like experience of Reddit.
Honestly I would love to move more into Lemmy, though I think it'd be cool if it also had some microblogging features to address that keeping up with friends aspect, or if you like a certain user in general.
I think that somewhat strange hybrid of different socials has a lot of potential, we should be using the right tools, and make it as seamless as possible.

I've also been thinking about how hard it would be to add a PeerTube-like video sharing mechanism to Lemmy, because having a way to promote that content alongside any other would be really nice.
