As an Aussie I will say this, an ad played on American TV 30-40 years ago does not reflect Australian culture. We don't eat shrimp, we eat prawns (it was changed to shrimp in the ad to avoid confusing Americans, which is a bit ironic). Barbie is the shortened word for barbeque in Australia, but we don't even cook prawns on the barbie, we either boil them or fry them on a pan. This has been a PSA from an Aussie who has heard Americans making this dumb boomer-esque joke for their whole life; please come up with fresh ways to dunk on us, that way we can both laugh. That said the picture is pretty funny.
