@flyingsquirrel@mastodon.social I mean, you have to be careful with that stuff... it probably wasn't great for the housing market, tbh (combined with a lot of other factors, but it isn't nothing)
but capital gains is just one thing, and tbh, a lot of ordinary people get caught up in that, not just the thompson reuters clan or the other absurdly wealthy families

@flyingsquirrel@mastodon.social taxing vacant housing? that's something we could do. bracketed capital gains? we could do that. taxing holdings in foreign tax shelters? we could make that work, to some extent (but probably not if we have a PM who himself is very much using them)
