I've had some coworkers that seemed to sense when they were about to get fired and jumped ship a bit ahead of that. I wonder if Alan Dye had a feeling that he'd better get while the getting was good. I don't think Apple execs had even thought about it yet, but if Dye was that good at office politics he probably figured it wouldn't be long now.
