@scathach@stereophonic.space purchase orders are commitments to buy things from companies, sort of like a reverse invoice, the seller cuts an invoice against a PO and payment is done on net terms (e.g. Net 30, aka pay us in 30 days please), standard way to transact in the business world, accounts payable of the buyer pays accounts receivable of the seller and the world goes round profit centers are divisions of a business that are semi-autonomous and directly generate revenue, like a brand or product division. it's sort of but not really the opposite of a cost center which is a division required to run the business and its profit centers. a profit center might be a product line or brand and a cost center might be IT, HR, etc. SKUs are stockkeeping units and is basically a unique product ID, so if you bought a three bulb lamp it might be shit like L3000001 or whatever taxonomy the company decided on. e.g. for my VPSes K-VPS-2K is a 2 cpu VPS and the K-VPS-2K is the SKU to uniquely identify it there's a ton more. it's all surprisingly standardized.
