@latenightlinux@mastodon.social Joe's point about means of production is spot on, but misses an even bigger issue, especially for AI-assisted coding. The more you use it, the more you lose the ability to evaluate the code being generated, much less write it yourself if AI provider of choice raises prices / goes under / has an AI-assisted outage.
Literally outsourcing "intelligence", except you're pissing away your own while buying the delusion of a machine's.

@latenightlinux@mastodon.social This is, of course, on top of the plagiarism, driving up water and electricity prices where the datacenters are built, etc. I understand the likes of tech giant CEOs painting rosy pictures with the blood, sweat, and tears of poor plebians, but honestly I expect more out of the hosts of this family of podcasts. There is no way to defend increased adoption of generative AI, in its current form, in a linux distro that takes the Zulu word for humanity as its name.
