@tezoatlipoca@mas.to The most important reason to use semantic HTML elements like , , etc. is they make the web understandable and useable by people with disabilities using assistive technologies like screen readers. The browser uses the HTML to create not only the DOM that's visually rendered but also an accessibility tree accessed through the operating system's accessibility APIs. There are other benefits, like having basic usability when there's a CSS error, when content is reused elsewhere like RSS feeds, and when people use a Reader Mode in their browser. #a11y @schrottkatze@social.treehouse.systems @fossheim@front-end.social
