It's all symbolic. A fact most Christians just cannot wrap their heads around. There's points in the bible where it speaks straight to you. There a parables where it is making a point through a story. Then there's symbolism and frankly - lies the Jews like to tell (Like the story of pharaoh)

this is actually something I used to think about as a boy when I was in church. “wow so Eve knew not to eat from the tree, but then did and grew ashamed, so instead chose to make sure Adam felt the same shame? she sounds just like the snake!”
