This was true in the old days of iPhone OS, where the only customisation a developer could do for their trade dress was the colour of the the background.
Nowadays, Apps and WebApps APIs allow so much customisation that they are hardly recognisable as a native “app” any more.
I’m with @danirabbit@mastodon.online that we need more WebSites that can be accessed from a variety of screen sizes and interface paradigms than WebApps.
Everyone benefits from well designed websites.

@Salvo@mastodon.social @danirabbit@mastodon.online Exactly why I poured salt into my own open wounds and struggled the hell that is Node and made 1 app that works everywhere and on any screen size. Is it what I wanted? No. But it was done under time under budget and the client was happy. Would I do it for everything I do? Good grief no. Let me start with “npm” means “no package management “.
