I don’t want to badmouth the current approach, though—they’re just two different ways of handling it. It would still be nice to have an entry for Linux with a 🌍 under "OS Smartphones" and Matrix with a 🌍 under Messaging.

@bjawebos@procial.tchncs.de @mho@social.heise.de @kremkau@machteburch.social I like the idea of using a 🌍 for open-source entries to acknowledge that contributions and hosting can come from anywhere. I'm not sure if it's necessary to have two separate versions of the website, but it would be interesting to see the percentage of open-source versus proprietary software, as well as a breakdown of proprietary software by all countries of origin (not just the US).
