That’s why expressions *should* absolutely be conveyed using equivalent idiomatic expressions and not just translated word for word. Because let’s face it, if you don’t know the expression already, “it’s raining cats and dogs” makes no sense, doesn’t mean what the expression means and sounds quite evil!
