Oh and I'll be missing the apple tv remote app too. And airplay. And oh my! I still think it may be worth the $300 savings though. I mean $600 for the 17E is just ridiculous.

We have just bought from US celular because we honestly haven't looked hard enough for alternatives. The store is right there, they do all the sim card stuff ETC. Apple doesn't seem to have a lot of refurbished stuff half the time anyhow. https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/iphone
