moreover, good systems are often not huge in terms of LOC, and even when they are, that code has been layered in over decades, with a wealth of in house knowledge spread across the engineers. adding thousands of lines per day feels like a good way to exponentially reduce the debuggability of a system, and the sanity of the remaining engineers

    @superfunc@mastodon.gamedev.place with larger shops maybe hyper mobility in the 00's and 10's means a lot of devs never had to debug systems they make With startups this is the case for most because most don't have customers so no prod issues to debug 🫠
