@atpfm@mastodon.social John’s claim of Long Island reminds me of my grandparents. They grew up in Brooklyn but haven’t lived there since the _60s_ but they are forever experts on what Brooklyn and New York is like. Granted they’ve lived in 2 different states longer than they ever did New York but they forever identify as New Yorkers.
