@MishaVelthuis@social.edu.nl If you listen to Carneys Davos 2026 speech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9EFPdcSot0&t=39s , he freely concedes that we were for a large part *pretending* that the rules held, and they were very selectively applied, depending who was punching and who was receiving. Even the pretence did some good, because the rules were at least a bargaining point. Now, it is clear that pretending is not doing any good, and only making matters worse, signalling to the world that we are all cowed by the violators.
