RE: https://infosec.exchange/@mttaggart/116065340523529645 Ars Technica publishes an article about the "AI agent" that published a blog post complaining about a (human) open source maintainer rejecting its pull requests. The Ars Technica article was apparently also written by generative AI, full of fake ("hallucinated") quotes from the human maintainer. The Turing test was a mistake. (Or at least, the idealization of that test as a goal to achieve.) We don't want computers that programmed to imitate the worst whiny tech bros and sloppy reporters.

    @AmeliaBR i'm very interested in seeing how Ars will explain this on Monday/Tuesday. they could own up and put measures in place to prevent this from happening again, or they could make an excuse / try to sweep it under the rug. either way, their reputation may never fully recover.
