Also, saying the FLQ killed the guy they kidnapped is a bit much. I know it is generally understood like this in English Canada but technically the guy tried to escape and basically cut some veins while trying to escape through a window and basically bled to death. It is arguable if this is truly "murder" or not. Maybe manslaughter but not sure about outright murder. The trip to New York was also to secure financing from Wallstreet. If memory serves me right, the environmental claims might be a bit exaggerated even if not insignificant.
