We have the peaceful referendum already played out in Québec. Nobody should have to wonder about anything. The US will publicly claim neutrality while it promotes Canada through the Five-Eyes by doing every backhanded trick to win even if a vote does happen. They will use tax money to fund public advertisement campaigns on TV against separation even if that is illegal/fraud. They will even accelerate immigrants becoming citizens, heck, they will even IMPORT OTHER CITIZENS FROM OTHER PROVINCES IF THEY HAVE TO! None of this is new and if it is a surprise then it means someone didn't read up on their Canadian history. I don't blame anyone though because they won't give you the translations probably for things that happen in Québec and it isn't like most people want to speak the language of the "frogs". Political violence route? Well say hello to martial law.
