@Gigawatt121@mastodon.art CoC as in code of conduct. Linux historically didn't have any serious one, opting to deem "be excellent to each other" a sufficient CoC. Whole story would be a deep rabbit hole, but basically that didn't go well, and a lot of people who were exposed to that hear "be excellent to each other" as "we don't need specific standards for how to treat each other based on known patterns of harm because hey, we're going to be excellent".

    @Gigawatt121@mastodon.art I'd love to see Mastodon folks reclaim that as meaning something good though. As long as we're following through and really working out what the details of being excellent entail.
