@jschwart@mas.to @osmocom@fosstodon.org yes, all you'd need to make and receive calls is a SIM [of a cellular operator supporting VoWiFi], a smart card reader, internet connectivity, a Linux machine and Free Software.

@sysmocom@mastodon.social @osmocom@fosstodon.org it's funny. I use a Sony Ericsson J120i and once received an SMS message "VoLTE has been activated". I couldn't imagine that to be relevant in any way to me at that time :) I have some old USB SIM readers, so I might be able to try this. I played with Asterisk before too (mainly with ISDN and SIP). This is really amazing to see!!
