@xahteiwi@mastodon.social @pludikovsky@chaos.social I normally don't use any spacing, because I'm not French. But if I'm trying to be, then I usually use U+202F (narrow no-break space). Unfortunately, many fonts make this a full-width or nearly full-width space. It generally looks better with U+2009 (thin space) if I have some other method to prevent line-breaking. (A zwj after the space helps, although it's not the proper use of that character.)
