Ryanair and ULCCs make substantially all of their money on ancillaries. Southwest makes money with its Rapid Rewards frequent flier program and by selling fares.

@tprophet@defcon.social @dascandy42@mastodon.social I believe RyanAir brings passengers who spend at airport shops etc, and there's some mechanism by which it gets part of that take. Maybe that's an indirect ancillary?
