@finestructure@mastodon.social I get this, I was just skeptical that this graph from who knows how long ago is also representative of today’s cars, especially ones who have a low economy to start with but were “optimized for faster speeds”. The error in my thought process was not realizing that the reason they got better economy at “faster” speeds was because the engine just wasn't being fed any fuel and was self-propelled at an optimal RPM by the mass of the car already moving. Thanks for putting up with me 😅
