When I was a journalist in the Marine Corps my base newspaper dedicated a month to the history of The Battle of Iwo Jima for the 50th anniversary. I had the privilege of interviewing one of the code talkers who was there. It was absolutely fascinating talking with him. After the recent passing of John Kinsel Sr there are now only two of the hundreds Navajo Code Talkers who served and helped turn the tide of the war.
