@highergeometer@mathstodon.xyz I should have added that this paper was written in German ! It's title is very modest, “Endlichkeitssätze für abelsche Varietäten über Zahlkörpern” (Finiteness theorems for abelian varieties over number fields), but those who knew understood what it was about. Moreover, at the time where Faltings actually proved the theorem, he sent a letter to Lucien Szpiro that describes the proof. Two pages were enough !
