@platlas@en.osm.town the environmental impact of Bitcoin feels different to me because of the way that system is designed: as a competition To mine new Bitcoin you don't just have to burn energy: you have to burn MORE energy than anyone else It's impossible to make that system more efficient, because any efficiencies will be lost to the increased competition they cause between rival miners
