@hetzner@mastodon.hetzner.social as much as I value the certification, when I look at this picture, I immediately ask myself: Why aren't the roofs covered with solar panels?

@riaschissl@sigmoid.social @hetzner@mastodon.hetzner.social my first thought was the same. But there’s probably a fine technical explanation for it. And as a matter of fact, the data centre does run on renewable electricity.

@riaschissl@sigmoid.social You’re right, this is a valid question and something we’re actively working on. We are already piloting solar modules at individual data centers in several locations. Expanding this further, however, requires careful planning, as technical, structural, operational, and safety requirements must not compromise maintenance, cooling, fire protection, or the reliable power supply our customers depend on. -Lea
