@renegademinis@dice.camp @roofuskit@mstdn.social I think the craft part of the hobby comes and goes. In the 00s I remember a push for prepainted miniatures that coincided with D&D 4th Ed. And the pandemic brought back painting with a resurgence of Warhammer to a lot of mainstream hobby spaces. These are all trends, nothing stays for long.

And as long as there will be videos of people saying, 'I bought this pre-painted set and using only washes, I made it more awesome', or Grognards going. 'Oh, you have that pre-painted stuff?' and make a disparaging noise or show them hoe to make their fortress match their army, they are going to be tipped into the hobby part of the hobby.
