As for "normiefying" the keybindings, I was actually ready to download some sort of keybinding package and start wrecking through everything myself, however, apparently, I'm not the first person to come up with the idea. I've heard of ErgoEmacs, wakib-keys and mousemacs now, and that apparently there's even a straight up vanilla "CUA" mode. I think it's normal to have to learn new keybindings when learning a new program - that being said, C-c for copy, C-x for cut, C-v for paste, C-s for save, C-o for open, C-z for undo, C-S-z for redo, etc... Those are just computing standards to me. To be honest I see no reason (other than just history which is Emacs's case I guess) to violate these. I'm willing to learn everything else "the vanilla Emacs way" but not these. I mean, C-z is mapped to "suspend-frame"?? So every time I do C-z by mistake, it unfocuses the Emacs window. Why would I need to do that? Undo is C-/ instead, which seems like it commits the same sin as most of Linux which is being extremely biased towards "us-ansi" keyboard layouts. From my first impression anyway, it seems like ErgoEmacs is a totally different keybind set, while wakib-keys just remaps the "normie" keys and keeps everything else the same. I like that mousemacs adds a cute right click context menu... But *I think* I can hack that in myself like patchwork? Fuck it, let's try it out.
