@tippitiwichet@mastodon.social oh man, sounds a lot like my mom. She has lost $ in many pyramid schemes, sends hundreds of dollars to "gurus", and is constantly in a cycle of buying and returning clothes and buying more stuff on store credit. Her ability to pick dishonest people to work with is remarkable. Sometimes I get the sense that she keeps hoping there's some kind of shortcut to having a lot of $. I'm just happy she has a real profession now (she does real estate).

@mk30@tilde.zone Soooo many dishonest people become "gurus", word. I could never figure out if she was super gullible, or if she thought they'd clue her in to the dishonest shit and teach her those shortcuts. She never tried to lead seminars though, so probably just gullible. Seems like the shortcut they were taking flew right over her head. Glad your mom found real estate, hope it works for her. Even more, I hope she figures out $$$ does NOT equal happiness.
