How do terminators even work? is it like a nucleus-like circular shielded pcb in the middle and the metal just morphs around it? is it like a soldering iron?

It depends on the type of terminator. The liquid metal one is the oddball one that isn’t a typical machine so I’d say it’s probably not actually liquid metal, but a swarm of nanobots.
