An object lesson in how dissimilar metals behave in salt water. The current owner of the boat had this steel rudder downhaul cable repaired with an aluminum nicropress fitting just a few months ago. When we hauled it out for a survey inspection, it had completely dissolved! 😮 The owner had to scramble to find a rigger, who installed the correct zinc-coated brass nicropress fitting (pictured), and had to pay for an extra hour of travel lift time. 🤷‍♂️ #Sailing #SailingNotSailing
