With the recent sloppification of the Vim codebase, I have been exploring alternative CLI/TUI editors. Out of the vi family: xvi stands out for compatibility and the fact that it's really tiny. Vis is probably one of the most sane choices given it is fairly lightweight, entirely configurable and scriptable with Lua, and supports structural regulation expressions which seem wicked cool.... But! There is also an obscure "moe" editor (not to be confused with the GNU moe editor) which is written in Nim and seems fairly pleasant to use and batteries-included: https://editor.moe/ Probably the most obscure choice, but since I know Nim quite well, could be interest. It also looks polished and with smart defaults + a good feature set...
