@jsnell@zeppelin.flights I am hardly ever listening to a podcast somewhere that I’d be able to see video*. If more podcasts did video, I worry they’d make assumptions on your ability to see them, making the audio product worse. * typically driving, on a walk, cooking, folding laundry, painting Warhammer minis—all have my eyes somewhere else

@davextreme@mastodon.social @jsnell@zeppelin.flights I'm always surprised when people 'watch' podcasts. I think more than anything its the ubiquity of Youtube distribution ability. How often do people have access to a web browser and can leave something open in a different tab. Very little of people "watching TV" is even looking at the screen 100% of the time, but they are always at least somewhat listening. You couldn't watch 4 sports games at once without replays and such.
