Should also say that if you read this thread and your knee-jerk reaction is to go, "but that's not true and that's not FAIR, the community is not LIKE this" and say something unkind to me, you are part of the problem. The community is absolutely like this, which is why it needs to change! Good news, it *can*. I'm not saying that you need to help *me* (I think I've got my bases covered, thanks), but like -- look. If your first response to this thread is, "that's wrong, you're wrong, you're an asshole", maybe sit with that feeling. Hostility doesn't help anyone, and this post was a *joke*. :blobcat_amused: There's a better metaphor about sourdough baking further down if you are going to insist that self-hosting gone wrong won't kill anyone -- p sure sourdough won't, either (but *who can say*).

@titania@retro.pizza context: i am a web developer, who has all my machines running linux. i have more than one raspberry pi, multiple soldering irons, I've setup and run enterprise web services, ... . i don't yet self-host at home. i have a virtual server i run in a data center and it doesn't do that much really. but the at home stuff, that's more plumbing than I've been able to get to
