I had a great day with a couple of my adult kids yesterday, and a lot of healing happened on the side. I've been moving into my house for what feels like forever ๐Ÿ˜‰ and after I had gotten everything out of the UBoxes that I could move alone, my son and his partner arrived to help move the big stuff. In preparation I thought through the best plan, what to move in first at the far end of the house to keep the path clear for the next items, what to place where so the most immediate things were the most accessible. I remember hearing myself repeatedly apologize for being so bossy. They are adults, they are smart, and I felt bad for what I would have been accused of before: being so controlling/demanding/bossy. A job that I thought would take several hours was done in 90 minutes, partly because Joe and Sara both are monsters (in the best way) - good lord, that woman can lift! But also partly because I knew what I wanted and I asked for it. It was a cheerful, fun, hot, sweaty, 95 stupid degrees day that ended with a charcuterie board and beverages out overlooking the river, a long conversation about many things, and before they left, Sara thanked me for being so clear about what I wanted, that I made the job easier. Oh, and on the way out the door I made sure they're registered to vote. ๐Ÿ˜†
