thanks to everyone that attended the first lecture! we will return on thursday, 5/14 at 8pm PDT. i actually goofed slightly -- the reading i posted for lecture 1 (up through 1.2.4 in the text) actually covers both tonight's lecture as well as thursday's. see y'all then ~~~
