In the BBC they still had full 1/4" single track (one side) reel to reel at 7.5 and 15 ips in 1975. I have a Telefunken portable 2 track mono (tapes turn over) reel to reel. Only 3.25 ips, but serious quality. The dynamic mic unusually has an embedded analogue VU meter driven by recording amp so the reporter (for a radio station) could manage level more easily. Uses "D" Dry cells or Lead Acid Gel.
