Unfortunately it also happens in clean technology. I went looking through press releases to find out what slows down builds of solar and batteries. Not the RMA. (Surprise!) I also found that while many announcements did result in actual results (Ruakaka, Huntly) some were quietly trimmed down. After the initial giant projections and press releases a year or two later they put out a new release announcing a subset and claiming success!!! @BobLefridge@mastodon.nz @JulianOliver@mastodon.social

I was looking at a semiconductor company that listed on NASDAQ, crowing about their multi billion dollar market for their product in 2026!!! Huh, today is 2026. Found a more up to date presentation. Now they’re so excited at the market potential to grow from 90 to 100 million (10%!!!). What happened to the billions? (I’d have to dig up the presentation again but I think they expect AI to be multi billions by 2032! Their projections are right this time!) @BobLefridge@mastodon.nz @JulianOliver@mastodon.social
