@davew@mastodon.online @davidgerard@circumstances.run @tagomago@mastodon.social @stefano@mastodon.bsd.cafe The ghoulishness of the genAI industry to pitch it all as a way to level the playing field when people like me who focus on QA will be able to consistently and intentionally poke holes and thread needles through obtuse bugs and issues left over from genAI output has me feeling very comfortable for job security for myself, and terrified about the long term job prospects for those younger than me who are being taught to “automate their learning” I’m just glad that the hype machine around GenAI will eventually bottom out and investors will start asking for returns, which will in turn pop this bubble. I’m fully expecting the AI hype to hit its peak this year and by October I think the bubble will finally pop. (This is all, excuse the terminology, based off of vibes. But I can’t see this turning into something profitable for anyone and incoming economic uncertainty from the Trump admin is gonna make people make the call to collect)
