I would answer earnestly the first couple queries and from then each question that was clearly "you've not thought or tried anything" got an exponential backoff on reply time. They did eventually get better at their work once they realized they might be waiting hours to the next day for a reply

In my case, it was dealing with all of the above with a guy 3+ years my senior at $20k over what I made, who had a lot of what I’ll describe as “gamer” communication patterns. So setting boundaries of was either treated as a joke or brushed aside with snark. Which then just devalued the boundary being set because it was more convenient to push it than to respect it. He definitely wasn’t always like this, but hanging around more closely with the other techbros on the team over AI really did a number on him. Which is why I had to take the working through it via leadership approach 🫠
