As an example from my own experiences with typed langs, on the one hand, yes, they do eliminate errors in a robust way in some cases, but on the other they're a royal PITA so people just go with Python and I can't blame them.

@deech@mastodon.social yes, agreed; we just haven’t attempted to make the paper cuts of development better, & we also just constantly push for more faster now. That’s part of what I mean, we know the solutions for the better, but we just don’t invest in making them happen. So I do think there’s a difference, “knowing but not investing” seems worse to me. For example, I dislike blockchain generally, but huge emphasis was made to make formal systems reasoning more accessible; I wish this was applied more broadly
