I'm generally not one to dwell on the past, partially because I have a really kak memory and hardly remember any of it.
Anyways, watching a soapy on ARD (on account of boycotting Netflix and all else American) featuring a child persecuted because he's a boy that wants to do ballet, I had a flashback to Christian National education primary school.
We were all forced to audition for parts in the school nativity play, and the tannie picking kids for parts told me she had her eye on me for one of the three wise men.
To soften the blow that she didn't think I was leading boy material, ie Joseph, she told me that part would involve playing with a baby doll Jesus.
"You're not the kind of boy who likes to play with dolls, I hope."
It just so happened I had seen an Action Man in a toy shop window the previous day and had my heart set on it for Christmas.
So I told her a doll was on the top of my wish list for presents from Santa.
TL:DR: I never got an Action Man, and I got demoted from wise man to shepherd in the school play.
A friend I still have from back then was whining about how he's still traumatized about when inspiration drove him to do a goth painting, all in black, and the art teacher slapped him and tore it up.
I admonished him about letting crap from when we were six still bother you as an adult, and now this!
