I don’t think that “high-ranking student” works as a paraphrase of “first honors” of “highest honors.” Perhaps “highest ranked in the freshman class”? I think that the word “page” was left out of “a 48-booklet.” I especially liked the way that burlesque showed up twice. Is her daughter’s career notable enough for her own article!
