Someone should definitely not learn how snow quietly made longwire antennas deadly for early radio pioneers and is respected by today's old school shortwave listeners. When the static builds on bare wires during a snowstorm it has been known to be silently deadly going back to the days of telegraphs and such. It's a really big capacitor. People in Minnesota are very careful and take measured steps, so one would expect them to be very cautious about simple things like bare wires in a snowstorm.
