**edit:** I should add I think this is the case - I sent my copy of Holmes basic to my friend, so I can't look to make sure but I remember looking at it and thinking it was a lot like the original D&D rules.

@frotz@mastodon.sdf.org @thorgrit@tabletop.social I guess officially it goes "OD&D -> Holmes -> B/X -> BECMI -> New Easy to Learn Bla Bla -> Rules Cyclopedia" on that line. I sorta recall a website that had a nice illustration of all the branches but now I cannot find it anymore. 🤷

That's right my friend. It's the first of three kinds of Basic and it's much closer to OD&D than the others. Probably should run an "all Holmes" game to savor the differences :) CC: @thorgrit@tabletop.social @phf@tabletop.social
