Saw someone asking what a woman is and I decided to research. Old English spoke about two types of man: a wīfmon (wife man) or cwen, the counterpart of a wǣpnedmann (weaponed man) or wer. Young men would be called gyrles or sometime cnits or maegdens depending on whether they were weaponkind or wifekind respectively. Being a wifeman indicated that man was no longer a girl and was married. It gave a certain status but men ended up calling all queens wifemen regardless of whether or not they were married. So in conclusion a woman is any man who is a queen.
